The Hoboken Police Department put on a solid opening day performance at the first New Jersey Heroes Soccer League match last night with a commanding 9 to 3 win against the Hudson County Corrections Department soccer team.  The powerhouse Hoboken trio of Vito Gigante (#10), John Mecca (#3) and Joe Piccinini (#15) scored two goals each, Chris McGlich (#15) scored one goal and Hudson County Corrections generously donated the other two Hoboken goals.

Hudson County Corrections saw a glimmer of hope with the fast footwork of player David Delgado (#26) who scored all three goals for their team including a dazzling defensive run with a brilliant finish.  Kudos to the Hudson County Corrections goalkeeper for his tireless efforts fighting back the Hoboken onslaught.

A special NJHSL thank you goes out to Freeholder Anthony Romano (Captain, HPD) for his opening kick and Andy Chen for performing a moving rendition of the National Anthem.
