JCPD Lt. Christopher Robateau, 49, of Carteret, died today from his injuries sustained as he was assisting a disabled motorist on the New Jersey Turnpike.  Lt. Robateau was a great officer, father, husband and friend to many.  He served his community with honor – and his kindness is reflected in the comments pouring in from the community who mourn his death.  In a City Hall press conference held at noon today, JCPD Chief Michael Kelly said; “We have over 900 officers in Jersey City and he may be our best.”  Lt. Robateau was one of the department’s most decorated officers with more than 40 Meritorious Police Service awards.

The USSH honors the memory of Lt. Robateau today and sends our deepest condolences to his family and colleagues.

Rest in peace.
